Aloo tikki

India’s most popular street food is chat, it is served in a variety of forms across the length and width of the country. While passing by the stall its aroma invites to pick one for instant consumption and on eating its crispness and flavors engulf the taste buds.

It’s easy… here is the recipe of this crispy hot wonderful smelling “Aloo tikki Chat”. So make yourself one in just 30 minutes and don’t resist yourself from the delight of eating it.

Serving -4

Preparation time 15 min

Cooking time 15 min


Potatoes boiled and peeled-4 large

Green chillies deseeded and finely chopped-3-4

Lemon juice-1tbsp

Salt-to taste

Red chili flakes -1 tsp

Green coriander leaves

Dry ginger powder- 1tsp

For serving-

Beaten curd- 2tbsp

Tamarind chutney -2tbsp

Sauce – 2tbsp

Green Chutney – 2tbsp

Chat masala – ½ tsp

Method –

  1. In a bowl mix all the ingredients and make smooth dough.
  2. Then make small round balls from this dough and press to flatten them to give the shape of tikki.
  3. Take a nonstick pan keep it over medium flame and grease it with oil place the prepared tikki on it.
  4. Cook it till it becomes golden brown then flip the side and get it shallow fried from both sides.

For serving-

In a dish set the hot tikkis and pour layers of beaten curd, tamarind chutney or sauce and garnish them with chopped green coriander. Sprinkle a bit of ‘chat masala’ to add the flavors.
