IMMUNITY, in simple words, is the power of our internal system to fight with disease causing organism.

How strong is your immune system, want to know? just ask yourself three questions;

  1. Do you readily catch cough and cold?
  2. Do you often feel lethargic or tiered?
  3. Do you fall sick every now and them specially when season changes?

If the answer is YES… you need to take special care about this innate power of yours which is certainly weaken. Being a nutritionist, I come across many people who say that how it is possible when they are taking proper food. But if the symptoms are there, certainly there are few gaps.

Now you must be curious to how to boost immunity?

So, here I am suggesting some proven tips and remedies to boost immunity. These are also mentioned in Ancient Indian Ayurveda.

Amla or Indian gooseberry: It is fantastic source of vitamin ‘C’ and a great immunity enhancer. It should be consumed through the year in any of its forms. Since October to March you can have it in the form of “Chyawanprash”. Chyawanprash goes best with lukewarm milk but if you don’t like or find hard to digest milk, you can have it alone. Rest of the year you can consume it in the form of Juice, Fresh chutney, Pickle, candy or Powder. All forms are readily available in market.

Giloy: Giloy is a magical Indian herb. This herb is packed with antioxidants and has the power to remove toxins from your body. It is the herb that works on overall body cleansing. It boosts your immunity on all quarters, once you make it a part of your daily routine, you will start noticing radical changes. First noticeable change you will notice is in decrease of recurrent infection or seasonal sickness. You can plant a sapling of giloy herb in your kitchen garden. It can be consumed by boiling a piece of its stem in water, filter it and consume the water. Giloy is also available in form of ‘Giloy Ark’ and ‘Giloy Churna’ in any ayurvedic medicine store. Concentration of Ark is very high. So if you are consuming it in ark form take only a pinch of it with water, while churna is consumed one tsp with water. It is practically a tasteless powder and in no way it offends your taste buds.

Haldi or Turmeric powder: It is an Indian herb which is yellow in colour, hence it is also termed as yellow gold, excellent for immunity.It is natural anti inflammatory which we all need to take care our internal healing. It can be consumed by adding in your dishes or have it mixed with sweet boiled milk at night. I am sure you will love the taste.

Tulsi or Holi basil: Tulsi has diverse healing and strengthening properties. This Indian herb is very easy to grow and maintain in your kitchen garden. Its leaves are used for consumption and works very well on almost all the internal organs to set their rhythm. You can consume it in ‘Coction’ form or add it to your masala tea, it enhances goodness of tea. Or you can directly sallow fresh tulsi leaves with water.

Adrak or Ginger: This is also an Indian herb available throughout the year and well known for its anti-inflammatory property. This works like a magic during internal repair of body mechanism. Consume it raw with salad or use it in cooking. You can also make a ‘Ginger Coction’ and drink it with water.
